According to Merriam-Webster, bullying is the:
Abuse and mistreatment of someone vulnerable by someone stronger or more powerful.
But bullying isn’t limited to schools. It can occur in the workplace, within families, in politics, and even between nations. Its effects, especially when experienced in childhood, can be long-lasting. Victims may struggle with depression, health issues, social isolation, and strained family relationships later in life. Career potential can be limited, and it’s not uncommon for those bullied as children to experience bullying again as adults.
Bullying can also manifest outwardly. Some victims may respond with aggression, which can appear as controlling behavior or, in extreme cases, assault, rape, mass shootings, or even war.
Yet, there’s another possibility: what if the very experiences of bullying could be transformed into resilience, strength, and even leadership?
